I normally do not endorse directory submission software. I don’t really use it too much, but I know that there are a lot of people that do, so I just wanted to give my two cents.

Back in January, I submitted a website to 200 directories using EasySubmits. To my dismay, I went back in today to check on the sites that I submitted, and I was shockingly surprised. Out of the 200 submissions, I had 100ish that were actually approved, and the rest were still pending. That is 50% approved, which is much better than some of the submission companies that people hire to do it for them. I also had one of my friends submit another site, and I think he submitted to 400 or 500 directories, and I’m still waiting to hear how many links were actually approved.

If you are not familiar with EasySubmits, you should check out their website. It is very self-explanatory, and doesn’t require a lot of knowledge. All you have to do is define your: Title, Kyewords, Description, and Categories – and the rest is just pressing buttons and entering CAPTCHA verification.

I decided to time myself earlier today, and I submitted links to this site pretty quickly. I was able to submit to 15 directories in under 5 minutes (which is pretty impressive). I used one page at a time, but you can actually pull up multiple windows at a time, and probably increase that number to 50 or 60 pretty easily.

Keep in mind, these links are by no means “high quality links”, but they are backlinks, and they will help you with your SERPs. All of the directories that they tie into are powered by PHPLD, so I assume that they probably (for the most part) use the nofollow attribute, but I did check a few of the directories, and surprisingly, the were dofollow, so it’s hit or miss.

I had the opportunity to speak with one of the site’s developers back in January, and he said that they are working on an API that would allow people to piggy-back from their site (probably using XML), and I think that once these guys fix some of the bugs, and add some more features, they will be an amazing asset to the people who like submitting to directories, and use it as part of their SEO plan. My original question was to buy a copy of their script, but obviously they didn’t want to go that route. I personally thing that they should add a press release feature to the mix, but whatever..
